I can still remember, very clearly the days of my youth when I was growing up in a small town. For the most part, it was a good life when I was young but there were many times when I wished for a little bit more activity in my local area. Since those days, I have moved to several large cities and although I didn't stay more than a few years, it really helps me to be able to appreciate some of the things from my younger years. Here are some of the things that I miss the most about the small town where I grew up.
One of the strangest things about visiting a small town after living in the city for several years is trying to get used to the fact that people wave at each other when passing. You become so accustomed to ignoring the people that you are passing on the street that it can be difficult to acclimatize yourself back into a world where people tend to be friendly to each other. At times, it can almost seem a little bit of an inconvenience when you first start to get back into this lifestyle but after just a few days, you begin to appreciate the fact that people are a little bit more friendly in small town surroundings.
Another thing that I appreciate is the fact that average conversation takes place in the most unlikely places. A good example of this is when you are standing in line at the grocery store. Although it is not always going to occur, there will be many times when it takes a little bit longer to get through the line because of an ongoing conversation between the person working at the store and the individual that is standing in front of you in line. For the most part, you need to learn how to slow yourself down a little bit so that you are not in as big of a hurry because you are simply going to frustrate yourself if you don't take on this mindset.
As far as the young people who live in the smaller towns, they are not all that much different from the big city kids that you will come across. Although they may have some different values, they are still youngsters and, in the modern world, we tend to be exposed to a lot more outside influences than we did when I was growing up in a small town. This is largely due to the Internet, but it is also because many children tend to contact each other through a variety of different electronic means such as their cell phones.
Although there certainly is some truth in the saying that you can never go home again, I find this to be true only in a limited sense. There will always be times when I feel a longing to be back in the streets of my small town again, and when I am there I do certainly feel as if I am home again.
So, where are we today? Well, I was very lucky and got some great parenting advice unlike so many kids today and managed to raise enough money for college myself alongside the usual free money for college available through grants and the like as long as you know where to look. My college time was great but, to be honest, I do not think that my education was anywhere near as important as the lessons I learnt simply from mixing with people from a wide range of different backgrounds. Along with one college friend in particular I was drawn into currency day trading and, after taking a little time out to learn forex trading on the side, I was able to start my post college days in style. While all of my friends were looking for credit card debt help I was our buying expensive hiking boots and driving around my local private golf course in my own Club Car Golf Carts and customized EZGO golf carts each weekend.
Today my other great interest is health. Growing up I came into contact with a range of health problems as we all do with members of my family from an aunt who suffered from really bad migraine headaches to an uncle who suffered from eczema and spent years saying please can someone find some natural remedies for eczema that work. I also remember a great aunt who had a real weight problem (way beyond the help of weight watchers) and spent years trying to lose weight. She tried everything from a range of exercise regimes (I still remember all the pilates questions) to learning how to increase your metabolism but nothing worked. Finally, she started asking a range of gastric bypass questions before electing for gastric bypass surgery as the solution to her weight problem.
I guess out of my interest in health I also became interested in the cost of getting medical care and, through this, first in student health insurance and then in finding inexpensive health insurance for everyone. Whatever health insurance questions you might have and whether you simply need cheap temporary health insurance or travel medical insurance you need to be able to get hold of health insurance quotes quickly, easily and at the right price. Of course this interest spilled over into getting free auto insurance quotes and free life insurance quotes and of course homeowners insurance quotes wherever you live any whatever type of property you live in.
